METRO (NY, NJ & CT) Parrot Head Club Membership Application
This is THE CLUB for anyone who likes the tropical atmosphere and attitude created by Jimmy Buffett songs! Join local Parrot Heads in community service projects, partying with new friends and continuing our personal search for "Margaritaville".
This Club was founded in August '92, as the New York City Parrot Head Club. Membership increased and it became clear that the membership reached far beyond the city limits. Now our membership encompasses the entire METRO area of NY-NJ-CT. The Club is a 'not for profit' organization whose purposes are to assist in community or environmental events and provide a variety of social activities for people of similar interests. All inquiries for MEMBERSHIP are welcome.
The Club has several gatherings in local areas. Monthly "Happy Hours" are held each month at various locations throughout the tri-state area. These locations often vary and information is provided in the monthly newsletter.
Club parties, picnics, and barbecues, along with other events are held throughout the year at various locations. Showing concern for the environment, the Club has "adopted" Manatees in FL., Route 114 (East Hampton, NY) and Sea Bright Beach (NJ) where we pick up litter and often have a party afterward. Other charities & volunteer events are supported during the year.
Our Club activities and events are described in "The Parrot Press" our monthly newsletter, which is mailed to each member. The METRO Club is one of over 100 clubs participating in the national organization of Jimmy Buffett Fan Clubs called "Parrot Heads in Paradise" ( PHIP), which keeps us informed of special Parrot Head events around the country. Through PHIP, our most active members (who have supported and participated in Club sponsored events throughout the previous year), are able to purchase a Club priced ticket for Jimmy's Summer Jones Beach Concert.
Each year, the Club hosts several social events . While dues help defray most of the expenses incurred for such gatherings, sometimes a modest cover charge or donation of nonperishable items for local food pantries are imposed. Annual membership dues includes 12 issues of the newsletter, invitation to all Club events, rights to purchase Club offerings of merchandise, & maybe even a few surprises.
Looking forward to meeting anyone and everyone who loves the music of Jimmy Buffett and who is in search of "Margaritaville", after all "We ARE the people our parents warned us about"...
